New to the area, have had major issues with other shops, coworker recommended them so gave them a try. Called Friday evening, appt Saturday morning, fixed Saturday afternoon, NICE! Went in for a grinding noise in the front end of 4wd SUV. They test drove it, looked at it, and took me back to show me/explain what was wrong. They suggested replacing the belt, which was cracked, and suggested replacing the wheel bearing unit and rotating the tires. I also knew a CV boot was leaking but instead of lying and telling me I needed to replace the whole joint, they said the clamp simply needed to be repositioned (huge difference in cost and very honest), could also have automatically said I needed to replace ball joint along with bearings but tried bearings first to see if that would fix problem and it did (again huge difference in cost and another honest move). Might be a tad bit more expensive then some, but they were very nice, gave me a ride home and brought me back when finished, have a 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty on work, and have experience with older cars. They've won me over so I'll go back and definitely recommend them to anyone needing a good auto shop.

I was very pleased with the experience at Medlock Gulf. Paul explained repairs that were needed and gave me a definite price. The work was completed promptly to my satisfaction. The next auto repair that I need I will take my car there.

There is no up sell, there is only honesty here, which is rare in this industry. I know a little bit about working on cars and, as a female, walking into a commercial garage, I'm always wary. These guys assessed all the major problems of my car, things I definitely knew, and the rest I suspected. Nothing beyond that. They also didn't push me to get them to do all the work; even gave me a bit of advice on how to pursue the work I could do on my own. Prices are very fair for labor and parts. Above and beyond, they will speak to you like you are an intelligent human being and not prey. They value their craft and their customers and it shows.

I really appreciate the great communication, honesty and genuine concern shown by the Gulf staff. We took our minivan in because the check engine light was on. Little did we know that one of our tires was being rubbed down to the wires (literally) by a bad wheel bearing. It was a bad accident waiting to happen. They sent us pictures of the tire and saved it to show to us later as well. They also found a problem while out on the road for the final test drive, and since they had not caught it originally or included it in our estimate, we only had to pay for the part, not the labor. It is so refreshing to have mechanics that are trustworthy!
